Asian Adobe has its roots in the mid-1990s when storeowner Fidelia Kirk and her husband lived in northern China. She began developing relationships with the local antique furniture collectors, then began collecting Chinese baby hats, baby collars and other hand-embroidered textiles, which are now available for sale at the store. She also became interested in the wide variety of pearls that were so readily available there and began studying the colors, shapes and sizes as she built her personal collection. Now Asian Adobe offers the finest collection of pearl jewelry in New Mexico.

Asian Adobe offers an extensive inventory of 100- to 200-year old furnishings, specializing in Ming style furniture. Most of the chests, screens, cabinets, tables, chairs and stools in the store were crafted by local workers during the 1800s. Each has been carefully cleaned and restored to highlight the beauty of the aged finish, and Chinese government authorities have inspected every piece to certify the age and origin of all antique items.

Baby HatsWhile the selection of furnishings changes regularly as pieces are sold and as new shipments arrive, favorite pieces such as large medicine chests and red lacquer chests as well as altar tables, screens and carved chairs are usually available. The furniture is made with beautiful woods including walnut, cypress and beech wood.

While Asian Adobe continues to offer fine antiques, we offer irresistible accessories including leather boxes, stone boxes, baskets, pots, large bowls, Buddhas, Votivo candles, silk and cashmere scarves and a variety of unique, handmade jewelry. A recent addition is beautiful, practical serving ware from the Beatriz Ball Collection.

Helping our clients with their selections is designer Greg Purdy, who has been with at Asian Adobe since 2006.
